Greenwich, CT (August 28, 2020) – The 2020 East Coast Open Polo Championship is finally here, and with it the return of 20-goal polo in the United States. This year's tournament will feature five teams, all vying for the Perry Trophy, the most coveted trophy of the U.S summer polo season. Play officially begins on Sunday, August 30 and continues though the finals on Sunday, September 13.Highlighting this years draw are three new teams making their first ever East Coast Open appearances: Altaris, Gardenvale and Black Hound DE. Also returning to this year's tournament are Los Violines and White Birch Farm, who is looking to regain its 2018 crown. All five teams are a full 20-goals, so it's sure to be an exciting and competitive event at Greenwich Polo Club. Please note that tickets are sold out for all 3 matches and ONLY guests with tickets will be admitted to the grounds, there will be no gate sales. Safety protocols and procedures that will be in effect at GPC this season include and are not limited to: - Masks: All guests are expected to wear a mask when not at their seating/viewing location, i.e.: entering the grounds, transitioning to the restroom, etc. Staff are required to wear face masks at all times.
- Social Distancing: At all times, please keep a six-foot buffer distance from those who are not a part of your seating group. Ground markings will indicate social distancing when waiting for entry to restrooms, food trucks, etc. Restrooms will be attended and cleaned regularly to limit occupancy and perform the required cleanings.
- Hand sanitizer: will be available at the entrance/exit to the field seating sections, as well as throughout the grounds.
- GPC staff and ushers will be located throughout the grounds to assist and enforce safe and distanced seating spaces and wearing of masks when traversing the grounds.
- Non-touch ticket validation will be used by all ticket scanners in mask & gloves at the gate
- There will be no unassigned seating permitted, and gathering outside your reserved seating location is not permitted
- The club will close 1-hour following the conclusion of the match. Guests are required to leave the premises upon closing.
- Guests are asked to self-complete a CDC "Self Checker" questionnaire for self-screening before entering the premises.
